Aiming to improve experiences at the end of life

It is a subject that can be hard to talk about, but people across Norfolk are being asked what care and support they would like at the end of life.

Healthwatch Norfolk is working with Marie Curie and NHS East of England to understand people’s experiences across the county, to help shape services that provide the best care and support possible.

It wants to hear the stories of those who are:

  • Living with a terminal illness
  • Supporting or caring for someone with a terminal illness
  • Have been bereaved in the last two years.

You can share your experiences in a number of ways.

You can do so:

Online at bit.ly/eastofengland

Call Healthwatch Norfolk on 0808 168 9669 (lines are open 10am to 4pm)

Email Healthwatch Norfolk on [email protected] to arrange a time to take part in the survey by phone.

Marie Curie are also looking for people to take part in one-to-one interviews or group discussions about their experiences. If you would like to take part in those, you can find out more and fill in the form here.

The findings and experiences will then be shared with those people in both Norfolk and the wider East Anglia region who are responsible for making decisions about palliative and end-of-life care.

John Bultitude, head of communications at Healthwatch Norfolk, said: “We want to hear from people who can help us understand more about the care and support they need at what is a challenging time. This is particularly acute when someone nears the end of their life, and we would really value the opportunity to hear from those who can give us a real insight.

“We would like to hear what could have been improved, the support that was received, and also what worked well so that the positive aspects of care can be shared too.”
