Three-week road closure as NNUH roundabout work continues

One of the main routes to access the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is closing for three weeks, to allow roundabout works to continue.

Colney Lane East leading from Round House Way will be shut from the hospital roundabout from Monday 6 January to Monday 27 January.

Other arms of the roundabout will remain open to allow access into the hospital and associated staff parking areas via the Watton Road/Colney Lane junction but will be closed overnight (a different road each night) from 8pm to 6am from 27 January to 31 January.

Access to Haldane Drive and Woolhouse Way will be maintained throughout from the Round House Way end of Colney Lane.

Alternative access to the hospital during the temporary closure will be via Hethersett Lane and Rosalind Franklin Road, which provides a direct route to the multi-storey car park and the hospital access road.

People will still be able to access the hospital while the road is closed, however delays are expected. Please try to use alternative routes and allow more time for your journey for the three-week period.

Bus services to and from the Cringleford Bus Interchange will be diverted onto the A47 and Watton Road during the road closure, with the B172 and Watton Road as a back-up route if required.

The improvement scheme, expected to be completed by early March 2025, will see improved pedestrian and cycle access to the hospital and nearby research park, alongside the installation of a new Toucan crossing.

If this road closure is affecting you, or has made you late for an appointment, we would like to hear from you. Email [email protected] to get in touch.
