Search launched for pioneering Youth Council members

Are you ready to make a difference and have your voice heard?

The search is now on to recruit the first members of a ground-breaking Youth Council at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.

The Youth Council aims to make sure young people’s voices are heard by hospital decision-makers.

This will be done by giving 16- to 25-year-olds a say in how care is provided right now.

They will also have an input into the new QEH planned for 2030.

How do I apply?

If you live, study or work within the area served by the hospital, we want to hear from you!

To apply, simply download the application form from the Youth Council website at teamqehyouth.co.uk/apply.

Need a little help? The Healthwatch Norfolk team can help, and you can even submit part of your application by video!

But don’t wait too long — applications close on Monday, October 7, 2024.

If selected, you’ll have a chance to chat with some of the Youth Council team later in October.

First meetings will take place this autumn, when council members will decide on initial priorities.

Alice Webster, Chief Executive of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, said: “If you’re aged 16 to 25, your voice matters to us! We need your fresh ideas and unique perspective to shape the care we deliver today and to help us build a better, more inclusive hospital for tomorrow.”

Chris Lawrence, Chair of the hospital Trust, added: “We are very pleased that our initiative is the first project of this type in East Anglia. You can help shape something that is completely new to this area.”

Alex Stewart, Chief Executive of Healthwatch Norfolk, said: “Our role is all about ensuring the voice of patients and those cared for in the county is heard. This project is a great example of helping to ensure this happens and we are happy to play our part in helping to spread the word about it.”
