New nurses training site in King’s Lynn announced

A new satellite training site for aspiring nurses will open in September 2025 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn (The QEH).

The QEH has partnered with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) to deliver pre-registration nursing education at the hospital, making the training process more convenient for students based in the area.

Localised training

Up to 30 students per cohort will be able to work towards a BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult), BSc (Hons) Nursing (Child) or a Nursing Associate Foundation Degree.

Students on the courses will benefit from access to expert academic staff and clinical placements within the hospital and community settings to prepare them for successful careers in nursing.

Pippa Street, Chief Nurse at The QEH, said: “This partnership marks a major milestone. By investing in our people and developing the next generation of nurses, we are strengthening the future of healthcare in West Norfolk and beyond.”

Helen Muncey, Head of Education Faculty at The QEH, added: “We are thrilled to be working with ARU to open up new opportunities for local people to pursue careers in nursing.

“This collaboration is about making nursing education more accessible, relevant and grounded in real-world experience, right here in our community.”

‘A great opportunity’

Laura Adley, Interim Head of School for Nursing at ARU, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with The QEH to deliver nurse education at their hospital site.

“It is a great opportunity for local learners, to live locally and study locally, whilst also attracting learners from further afield to study at The QEH.”

The training initiative supports the long-term plan for the NHS to grow and develop the nursing workforce by increasing access to high-quality education and training, closer to home.
