Do you support someone in Norfolk with a Serious Mental Illness (SMI)?
We are working with the Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation NHS Trust (NSFT) to find out what help and support carers need, and understand more about their experiences.
If you are aged under 45, we are particularly keen to hear from you.
We want to discover what worked well, what could be improved, and then set a series of recommendations around improving things.
What do we mean by a carer of an adult with an SMI?
It is someone who cares unpaid for a family member or friend with SMI who cannot manage without their support. Common diagnoses associated with SMI include
- Schizophrenia/ Schizoaffective Disorder
- Bi-polar disorder
- Psychosis
- This can also include other diagnoses such as major depressive disorder, personality disorder and eating disorder (when they are long-term and severely impact the person’s life).
We are interested to hear about:
- Your involvement in the care of the person you are supporting.
- How being a carer impacts your health and well-being
- The challenges you face and the things that work for you and the person you are supporting.
- Whether your voice is being heard by mental health services.
- The resources and information available to you as a carer.
How do I share my feedback?
You can email us a video or voice-note via the link below. You can use the same link if you would prefer to email us your experience.
If you would prefer to arrange a phone appointment to complete the survey, please email us via the link above and one of the Healthwatch Norfolk team will call you back to arrange this in the New Year.
