A new appeal has launched to help Norfolk patients who are physically or mentally frail to stay active, build strength and maintain independence.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital at King’s Lynn’s charity is launching EPIC Moves, Better Lives, which aims to raise £20,000 for reconditioning and exercise therapy through physical activity.
The hospital says approximately 1,400 of its patients are affected by dementia and frailty every year.
It says exercise therapy eases symptoms associated with dementia, reduces the need for medication to manage sleep, mood, and anxiety, and encourages engagement and movement.
Dr. Katie Honney, Clinical Director for Integrated Care of Older Persons and Clinical Lead for the charity appeal, said: “We’re immensely grateful to everyone who supports this vital campaign. With these funds, patients living with dementia and frailty will benefit from tailored therapies that improve their physical health and enhance their psychological wellbeing.”
Rachel Burridge, Consultant Nurse for Frailty, added: “Exercise therapy lifts our patients’ spirits, helping them regain balance, and stay engaged and positive. It’s wonderful to see them reminisce about past sports and hobbies with the EPIC Norfolk Exercise Specialists. This programme makes their hospital stay more enjoyable and empowering.”
The QEHKL Charity is now asking individuals and local organisations to help reach the £20,000 target.

Sam Taylor, Charity Manager, added: “Together, with your generosity, we can continue to transform the quality of care available to patients, ensuring a brighter, healthier future for all who rely on The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn. We’re a small charity with a big heart, and every donation helps.”
