Transition of care from children’s to adults’ health and care services February 2023

Healthwatch Norfolk was commissioned by Norfolk Community Health and Care (NCH&C) to investigate the experiences of young people, their families/carers, and professionals of the move from children’s to adults’ health and care services, known as transitioning, across Norfolk....
During the week 22nd to 26th May 2023, we visited The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn every day to find out about patient experience. We wanted to find out what was working well and what could be better as part of our Three Hospitals Three Weeks campaign....
In July 2023 we visited Swan Lane Surgery to speak with patients about their experience with health and social care services. From this visit we received 15 reviews for the surgery. We have also received two reviews through our website this month for the surgery. These 17 reviews have an average star rating of 4.6 out of five....
Between April 2018 and July 2020, three patients, Joanna, “Jon” and Ben, died at Cawston Park Hospital in North Norfolk, having suffered neglect and abuse. They were all in their 30s, and they all had learning disabilities. An important finding of reports into the tragedy was that the views of patients and their families were systematically ignored by the hospital. As part of the system response to these events, the Healthwatch Norfolk board agreed to undertake a review of the residential and in-patient sector caring for people with learning disabilities and autistic people....
Healthwatch Norfolk wanted to find out if residents and their families were listened too within residential care if they had learning disabilities and autism. This followed the tragic deaths of three young people at the Cawston Park home....

From November 2019 to March 2020, Healthwatch Norfolk ran an online survey to collect feedback on local residents’ experiences of mental health support in primary care. Participants could share their experiences of mental health support from their GP as well as provide their experiences of digital resources as support for mental health. This report outlines the survey findings....
