This report details our independent review of the Norfolk and Waveney Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnerships (MNVPs).
MNVPs play a key role in gathering feedback from patients and their families and then using it to improve the safety and quality of maternity and neonatal services.
Our team worked closely with the NHS Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care Board (ICB) and interviewed leads from the MNVPs at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston, and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn. We also spoke to staff from each hospital, NHS representatives, and some of the team from the Kernow MNVP which is regarded as one of the best in the country.
The report concludes that the work of these volunteers is hugely valuable and that volunteers should be employed by either NHS Norfolk and Waveney or another organisation and receive a wage which reflects the responsibility and demands on their time.
Based on what we found, Healthwatch Norfolk has made a number of recommendations. These are outlined in our report, along with a response from Norfolk and Waveney ICB.
