Volunteering project under way

A new project is under way in Norfolk to encourage people to volunteer and help health care.

Volunteer To Career gives opportunities in surgeries, dentists and pharmacies with full training and extra carer support.

Ludham and Stalham Green doctors surgeries are currently looking for people to join the scheme.

They are looking for people who can support patients, visitors and staff in many different ways including helping patients use the electronic sign-in system and keeping information boards up to date.

As a result, volunteers get:

  • Practical experience in a health and care workplace
  • 1-2-1 career mentoring to help you with your career journey
  • The chance to meet and shadow health care professionals like healthcare assistants, occupational therapists and nurses to find out more about what they do.

To get involved, you don’t need experience of health and care. You just need a willingness to learn and become part of a team. You will get:

  • Mandatory training with opportunities for additional training
  • Ongoing support
  • A Volunteer To Career uniform
  • Travel expenses reimbursed.

When you successfully complete a placement, you also get a certificate.
