The NNUH Dementia Fayre returns

The event is open to all people with dementia and carers to provide advice and support to people and families affected by dementia.

This year’s theme aims is focused on carers and there will be a question and answer session with a panel of carers and dementia experts.

Liz Yaxley, NNUH Dementia Services Manager, said: “It was fantastic to bring the Dementia Fayre back to the hospital as an in-person event last year and we are looking forward to building on its success to provide as much as information and support to people living with dementia, their carers and families. We are looking forward to welcoming a host of experts and organisations to the hospital on the day with a focus this year on support for carers. NHS staff and the public are very welcome too!”

The programme includes two keynote speakers at the Benjamin Gooch Lecture Theatre.

Between 10.30am and 11.30am, Prof Michael Hornberger, Professor of Applied Dementia Research at the University of East Anglia, will deliver a talk on “Getting lost/missing in dementia – Something to be concerned about?”

Dr Naoko Kishita, Associate Professor in Dementia and Complexity in Later Life at the University of East Anglia, will be speaking between midday and 1pm on “How does online Acceptance and Commitment Therapy support family carers in managing anxiety and worries?”

Between 1.30pm and 2.30pm there will be a Q&A for carers featuring experts and carers groups.

The event will also be attended by Norfolk and Waveney Dementia Support Service, Age UK Norfolk, Carers Voice, Age UK Norwich, Caring Together, NNUH Dementia Support team, N&N Hospitals Charity and local dementia support groups on the day.
