Healthwatch Patient Data Project deadline extended

Healthwatch teams in the East have extended the deadline for completion of the Patient Data Project survey to Monday 12th May, to give as many participants as possible the opportunity to have their say.

Currently, the NHS collects a large amount of data about patients including name, address, prescription details, and information about care and diagnosis. This is then shared across services as a matter of routine unless you automatically opt out. The information is also brought together by health bodies so they can get in contact with people who might need extra support.

Now health leaders in Norfolk and Waveney, and Peterborough and Cambridgeshire want to make sure people are aware of how their data is is used and shared, and how they should be consulted about this.

Healthwatch Project Officer Chris Humphris

Healthwatch Patient Data Project Officer Chris Humphris said: ” We’ve had a really positive response so far, but this is a project covering a large area.

“We’re gathering views from across the whole of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, so we want to make sure people are given a good chance to get involved and share their thoughts.

“The collection and use of personal data is an important issue and one which everyone should have the opportunity to be heard on.”
