The Chief Executive of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn (QEH), Alice Webster, has announced she is stepping down with immediate effect.
Alice began her career in the NHS as a healthcare assistant and later became a midwife and health visitor. She became Chief Nurse at The QEH in 2021, eventually being appointed as Chief Executive at the end of 2022. In total she has worked within the NHS for than 38 years.
New group model
The announcement comes as the newly formed Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group continues to take shape. Mark Friend was appointed as Interim Group Chair, and Professor Lesley Dwyer as Group CEO, last month.
The three acute hospitals which are part of the new group model – the James Paget University Hospital, the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital – will each have an Executive Managing Director, due to be appointed shortly.
‘Greatest honour’
Announcing her departure as CEO of the QEH, Alice said: “Leading The QEH and working with people and communities across West Norfolk has been one of the greatest honours of my career.
“I am immensely proud of all we have achieved together and am deeply grateful for the dedication, passion, and resilience of The QEH team.
“The progress we’ve made, the challenges we’ve overcome, and our shared purpose in improving patient care have made my time here truly meaningful.
“Thank you to my wonderful QEH colleagues as well as the community and healthcare partners that I have worked alongside over the last four years.”
‘An exceptional leader’
Andy Wood, Chair of The QEH, said: “I’d like to thank Alice for her incredible work during her time at The QEH, most notably securing our place on the New Hospital Programme and opening a dedicated end-of-life unit.
“Alice is an exceptional leader, but first and foremost she puts patients first. Her commitment to delivering outstanding care is inspiring.
“I wish her all the very best for the future.”
