Ensuring GP practices are accessible to everyone

Do patients who are deaf or have hearing loss get the support they need at Norfolk’s GP practices?

Healthwatch Norfolk is aiming to find out with the launch of a new survey.

The organisation, which gathers feedback from people about their health and social care experiences, is looking into the issue to discover people’s experiences at their GP surgery if they are Deaf or have hearing loss.

You can take part by filling in the survey below.

You can also email us a video with your views in BSL to [email protected]

If these options do not work for you, please get in touch via the email above or get in touch by phone (if you have a service like Relay UK) on 0808 168 9669 from January 2, 2025. Lines are open 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday.

We are also talking to GP surgeries to find out if they adopted the Hearing Loss Charter during the winter. Analysis of these responses will form part of our final report.

The survey will be open until 5pm on Monday March 3, 2025.

Our findings will be analysed and a report compiled with key findings which will be published in 2025.

This follows some work carried out by Healthwatch Norfolk three years ago for NHS Norfolk and Waveney which saw some practices pilot work around improving things for patients who are deaf and/or had hearing loss.
