A popular West Norfolk fundraising event is helping support a new facility at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn.
The Hunstanton Lions Club have raised £1,800 for The QEH’s Macmillan Cancer Care and Treatment Centre..
The funds were officially presented by Lions Club president Jane Scott, a 15-year club veteran and president for the past two years, along with Paul Southerton, who has been with the club for four years.
For many of the club members, this cause is especially personal, as several have either received care or are currently undergoing treatment at The QEH’s Macmillan Cancer Care and Treatment Centre.
Jane, who has also volunteered at The QEH over the past year, expressed gratitude for the exceptional care provided by the cancer unit staff, saying: “The club is indebted to the work undertaken every day at the treatment centre. The staff are so compassionate and caring – nothing is too much trouble.”
Aiswarya (Ash) George, Charge Nurse at The QEH’s cancer unit, said: “The funds could potentially go towards purchasing a vital vein scanner to assist patients who experience difficulties during treatment, making their care more comfortable and efficient.”
