We want to explore and understand the healthcare landscape trans+ people are exploring, focusing on GP care.
Trans and non-binary people (sometimes referred to as trans+) can often face challenges when accessing healthcare.
We heard about this when attending Pride events in Norfolk this summer, and there is also a lack of research into the health experiences of trans and non-binary people.
Along with our Healthwatch colleagues nationally, we want to explore the experiences of trans+ people and GP care, as this is often the gateway to accessing other care.
The findings will be collated from people who have taken part across England and analysed, before findings are published and fed back to NHS leaders.
In the summer, Healthwatch Norfolk spoke to attendees at both Norwich Pride, and King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Pride, about whether they felt being LGBTQIA+ affected their healthcare experience. You can read more about that and download a copy of the report below.
